Peter Singer article in the NY Times

What Should a Billionaire Give – and What Should You?

Interesting article by Singer. I like his idea, of course, but I'm not sure an economist would agree it could work? Don't all the rich people make money off of their money? If they gave this much away (see the article) then they wouldn't have money to continue giving? Or, is he saying that they'd only have to do this once?...that can't be.

Some times smart people think they can fix problems just by doing a little thinking on their own without consulting other "experts" on the subject....I hope that's not the case with this one.

See what you think.

Affordable homes: Habitat for hustlers - Buying a House - MSN Real Estate

Affordable homes: Habitat for hustlers - Buying a House - MSN Real Estate: "The guiding principle of the nonprofit Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1976 to build affordable houses for underprivileged families, comes from the Old Testament: 'If a brother living near you becomes poor, you must provide for him . . . do not make a profit on the goods you sell him.' But that ethos doesn't carry over to the many banks, brokers and mortgage-servicing companies that deal with Habitat families and, increasingly, are profiting handsomely from the financially naive."
